Presidents message

President’s Message
July 1, 2007
It is an honor and privilege to be given this opportunity to serve as president of the Rotary Club of MACTAN. We have given our best to serve the communities of Mactan and its neighboring places for more than two decades.
For rotary year 2007-08, our theme is "Rotary Shares" and I cannot think of any other organization that exemplifies this theme as much as Rotary. It is the best time to reflect on what we have accomplished and what more we can do when we work together as an organization dedicated to making the world a better place.
As an appetizer for the year’s club activities, I am happy to announce that we are the only Rotary Club in Cebu that have our own ROTARY INFORMATION BUILDING located at Mactan Export Processing Zone, it is an appropriate venue for our programs on Literacy, Health, Water and Livelihood. It is also the best campaign headquarter for our "Environment Advocacy" mainly the mangroves planting projects.
To complement, we have a newer and more comprehensive website to blast our programs that will serve as our link to the world, to establish friendship and partnership.
Looking back, I was awed by the accomplishments of my more seasoned and more experienced predecessors. Their accomplishments will always be a challenge and inspiration. I assure you that effort continues that we can be proud of the legacy that was passed many years ago. Let’s continue the work as one team, one family as we celebrate Rotary throughout the year.
For my team, let’s REV-UP our Rotary spirit, let’s soar high and bring Rotary Club of MACTAN to greater heights. !

Maita C. Manglapus
President
Rotary Club of Mactan
R.Y. 2007-08
